An x86-based computer with a floppy drive and a HD bigger than 35MB, but there's no use using a HD bigger than 1GB.
![]() | You don't actually need a floppy drive nor a HD in order to install, run, and play with MINIX. However, this document was written to describe how I went about installing MINIX on my hardware and wasn't meant to be an exhaustive summary of all the install options available. That being the case, you can install MINIX to a system that has a HD that already has other OSes on it by using just one partition, again, because of my hardware setup I don't go into this option but simply assume that the computer's full resources can be dedicated to running MINIX. |
A couple of high-density (1.44MB) floppies. It is perfectly feasible to install MINIX using only 1 floppy if you want to. If you really want to get fancy you could use up to 10 floppies, but this would be clearly overkill. A good number of floppies to use is 4.
