Linux Latency
(version 3.4.0; last modified: 18 November 2005)

The purpose of this project is to evaluate the latency performance of user-space processes running on top of the Linux kernel, as well as to compare a vanilla kernel.org kernel with Ingo Molnar's -rt patches.

This report compares linux-2.6.14.2 with linux-2.6.14.2-rt12.

Kuro Box
(version: 1.0.0; last modified: 20 February 2005)

The KuroBox is an embedded board based on a PowerPC MPC8241. It comes with a CD containing a run-time environment based on old versions of GCC and Glibc. It also assumes you have a Windows (TM) machine from which to install. Since I don't run Windows (TM) and would rather use newer tools, this document outlines how to go about creating a user environment targetting this CPU from scratch on a cross-development x86 Linux (TM) host.

If you prefer, a PDF version and a TXT version are available.

A tarball of these document sources is also available if you prefer (KuroBox.tar.bz2; ~168KB).
